Popular Acroyoga Poses to Try
Acroyoga offers a variety of poses that are both fun and challenging. Some popular acroyoga poses include Bird, Throne, Star, and Back Plank. Each pose requires trust, communication, and cooperation between partners. Bird is a foundational pose where the base supports the flyer’s hips while the flyer extends their arms and legs in a “flying” position.
Throne is another popular pose where the flyer sits on the base’s feet while the base supports the underside of the flyer’s glutes and hamstrings, resembling a chair. This pose is great for building balance and stability. Star is an intermediate pose where the flyer balances on the base’s hands, creating a star-like shape. This pose requires a strong core and good communication between partners.
Back Plank or Back Bird is an advanced pose where the flyer lies on their back on the base’s feet, creating a plank position. This pose challenges both strength and balance. Practice these poses with a spotter to ensure safety and build confidence. As you become more comfortable with the basics, experiment with transitions and sequences to create your own acroyoga flow.
